HILIKUNMAKKEE VALKOINEN
A Finnish berry wine
Alc. 12 vol.%
Sugar 35 g/l
|
| Colour: |
A dark coppery golden colour. The attractive shade reminds one of
red-hearted pine, and itcould best be served in a large wine glass.
|
| Nose: |
There is a flavour of sweet berries, honey-like. The bouquet emerges
slowly from a well-chilled wine. |
| Taste: |
The wine has a strong berryish taste, with a nice roundness to the
finish owing to the sugar and an aromatic acid stem. It could be accompanied
by mildish Emmentaler cheese, hard cheeses, and spi- ced crackers.
Its character can be changed by varying the serving temperature, but
it remains a nicely-balanced wine to drink on its own. Alternatively,
a clear salmon and herb soup, spiced with wine, or crayfish coo-ked
in strongly-spiced dill water might be suitable accompaniments. |
