MAKKEE MANSIKKA
A Finnish berry wine
Alc. 12.8 vol.%
Sugar 60 g/l
|
| Colour: |
The dark-red colour of ripe strawberries is the genuine article,
and the clear wi-ne reflects the light vivdly and attractively. |
| Nose: |
The very ripe scent of strawberries is a deep and heady as the aromas
coming off a berry field after a July shower. It is dominated by the
berriness and slight acidity of the natural fruit, which also attracts
and coaxes out other aromas. |
| Taste: |
The strawberry taste dominates the opening notes, but it then becomes
roun- der, with the sweetness cut off by a nice acid stem. The aroma
of Finnish strawberries makes this highly competitive even with a
li- queur, and it differs distinctly from artificial sweetness. Vanilla
sauces and custards, a rhuparp pie, white chocolate, and strawberry
ca-kes or pastries seem attractive accompaniments. This wine can be
consumed as such as a summer punch, and it is an easy party wine which
opens out agreeably when it becomes warmer after chilling. It can
equally well be served as a welcoming aperitif or as a dessert wine.
