RIISTAMUSTA
A Finnish beery wine
Alc. 13 vol.%
Sugar 4 g/l
|
| Colour: |
A deep purple, tinged with black, almost impenetrable but clear wine. A viscous, slightly oily and almost solemn entirety. |
| Nose: |
A fresh strong-smelling berry wine. A clear scent of black currants and of a wet and ethereal coniferous forest. An agreeable tinge of the sweet core of berries. The flavour spreads out at outdoor serving and even lasts out through long drinking parties. |
| Taste: |
Initially, the wine is strongly aromatic, containing stirring bold currant flavour. After evening out in the glass, its broad and fairly short acid base makes room for the taste of game. When chilled, the wine becomes slightly jammy, which softens the aromas to go together with, e.g. wild boar chops, game birds refined with Spanish-type gravies and particularly with bear dishes.
Desiccated juniper berries, dried blackcurrant clusters and coffee are suitable spices to accompany it. It also goes extremely well together with herb salmon cooked by an open flame. The wine is well-balanced with its flavour and taste being combined with dark appearance in accordance with the standards for a good hunting wine. Good for marinades and gravies. A real Finnish silvan taste experience, which could also be tasted even on its own, e.g. together with cheeses.
